Practical guides for describing your project and having a useful first conversation.
GUIDE 01
Start with a wide view of each room. Add close-ups of the existing floor, transitions, doorways, stairs and any visible problem areas. Keep people, mail, family photographs and identifying documents out of frame.
GUIDE 02
For a rectangular room, multiply length by width using the same unit. Break an irregular room into smaller rectangles, then add them together. These are planning measurements; product ordering and waste allowances need a separate check.
GUIDE 03
The size and layout, the selected product, the existing surface, removal, stairs, trim and preparation can all affect the scope. Share what you know so we can identify the details that still need review.
GUIDE 04
Flooring products have specific requirements for the surface beneath them. Flatness, cleanliness and other site conditions may need attention before installation. Photos are a starting point; some conditions can only be assessed on site.
GUIDE 05
Confirm the material, installation method, transitions, baseboards, removal, disposal and preparation. Agree on access, furniture arrangements, timing and what is included in the estimate.
GUIDE 06
Follow the preparation arrangements agreed for your project. Discuss furniture, appliances, fragile belongings, pets and site access in advance. Do not remove structural elements or disturb unknown materials without suitable advice.
GUIDE 07
Use the care and maintenance guidance for your exact flooring product. Keep the manufacturer’s instructions and product details. Cleaning methods, moisture limits and maintenance differ between products.
